The Platform Theory

Have you ever wonder what is a platform and why is there a platform? We often heard platform as a type of structure such as the oil platform or a type of shoes. However, have you heard before that a platform can be me or you?

Have you been a platform or treat someone as a platform? Having said that platform is a stage that is essential to achieve something, we are actually treating many things and people around us as platforms. Sometimes we are platforms for many people as well.

Quote of the day: ‘Don’t treat someone as a platform, an opportunity or a chance.'

HAHA.. Being a platform is very demoralizing especially if one doesn't realise that he/she is a platform. When you want to sit down in a restaurant or food stall, you’ll have to order a dish (i.e. the sushi that a few of us have ordered at Shilin Night Market). The sushi is a form of temporary platform as our intention is to sit down in the stall instead of eating the sushi.

Platform theory can be widely applied in our daily lives as well. For instance, when you want to go out with B, you ask A along as B will go out if A joins. It may sound a bit complicated, generally it just means that you treat the ‘platform’ as a person/thing that will ‘LEAD’/bring you to your ultimate goal.

Another real life example, a dinner is not just about the food but more than just the obvious. Dinner is treated as a platform for the 2 parties to foster stronger bonds and to stay connected. Hence, the restaurant, food and etc are just platforms to make the event possible.

Being a platform is not a bad thing at times, as long as we recognize our roles, either a platform or a target, we’ll be prepared to expect the outcome. The saddest thing is when a platform doesn’t realize that he/she is just a platform. Hence, think twice before u want to treat someone as a platform. :)
